The 36th Congress of IFMS, the International Federations of Mountain Soldiers that groups 11 Nations, was held in Jaca, Spain. In addition to Spain, host country, Italy, France, Germany, Poland, Slovenia, Montenegro, Switzerland, and the United States were present; Austria and Bulgaria were justified absent.
Work planned for this event took place in an atmosphere of great cordiality and friendship, as well as the usual meetings with local military representatives and institutional visits with the city officials of Jaca and Zaragoza. The contribution of the Italian A.N.A. delegation was important, underlining the importance and role of the IFMS but above all, the goals that must be achieved, such as the finding of a new way of integration between the various federations and the task of greater commitment in safeguarding friendship between peoples and defending civil rights, as required by democratic systems.
At the end of the works Jacques Antoine Diserens of the Swiss Association, USSM, was elected as the new Secretary General, while the new Treasurer is Renato Cisilin from Italian A.N.A. Both will remain in office for three years.
