Brigadier General (Ret.) Renato Genovese

Biography

BG Renato Genovese was educated at the Modena Military Academy and graduated from the Branch School in Turin. His first assignment was in Bruneck (in the Italian Tyrol), where he served as deputy commander and commander of a mountain artillery battery.

From 1980 through 1989 he served as battery commander, spt battery commander, and as S-2 and S-3, in the AGORDO Mountain Arty Battalion. After graduating from the War College in 1988, he served as Staff Officer, HQ LANDSOUTH. In 1993, promoted LTC, he was assigned to the position of Commander, AOSTA Mountain Artillery Battalion.

From 1994 to 1995 he served at the Civitavecchia War College as Section Commander and Assistant Lecturer, Operations, and as Tutor at Rome – Joint Senior Staff College. From 1995 to 1999 he was assigned as Chief Plans and Infrastructure, Logistics Division, HQ LANDSOUTH, Verona.

Following promotion to the rank of Colonel in 1998, in September 1999 he took the responsibility of the Intelligence Division as ACOS (Assistent Chief of Staff) at the Joint Command South East in Izmir (Turkey).

From November 2002 he was assigned to the position of Commander 1st Mountain Arty Regt in Fossano (Italy). From 2003 he served in Italian Defence General Staff (IDGS) – Rome as Chief Division in the J2 Department. In 2009 he was assigned to the NATO HQs – Bruxelles in the Italian Military Representation as Chief Plans & Policy and Cooperation.

From 2012 he was placed at disposal of Italian Army General Staff.
